First Garden is a lifelong project involving the gathering of biological samples. Started in 2015 in the Forest of Solitude in Germany where we collected fern leaves, our collection soon grew to include various plants picked in the places where we have worked. It’s a personal collection as time and geographic markers of our life.
Here the collection is displayed together with archaic clay artefacts that seem to be from the future as if we had to remember gesture or tools after a gigantic collapse of all technologies.
For the exhibition Come Hell or High Water, the collection was displayed on a cabinet designed by architect duo Stiv kuling to be emergency mobile furniture, with industrial steel handles and twenty-one wheels beneath.
