LANDSCAPE RESEARCH
VIDEO stream – 2012

In 2012 we installed a camera on the Ny Ålesund International Research Station in Svalbard to document the melting ice. At the same time as we open a real-time window on the northernmost inhabited place in the world, we activate the motion detector and collect video of every event that happens in front of the camera (the flight of a bird, snow gusts lifted by the wind, the human presence revealed by the rays of light from the headlights of the station’s vehicles…) – icy flicker where the active immobility of the landscape reminds us of the climate emergency.
